Terrible news:according to officials Zeytin will be staying at Turkey. They have reached to this decision after the officials have determined that he was a western lowland gorilla through a dna test taken in Ankara. With this test the officials have determined that Zeytin is not from Nigeria and have decided to keep him at a zoo.

As previously mentioned, there aren’t any zoos in Turkey that have the resources and space to properly keep gorillas. Before Polonezköy zoo got rid of the account set up they did have footage the young ape being man-handled, eating sweet fruits, and wearing shirts.I want to kick myself for not archiving the page. This this is “good hands” the authorities have given Zeytin to instead of any of the four EAZA zoos in the country…
I know people don’t like speculations without any evidence that backs it up, but as someone who grew up and still is in Turkey, I would not be surprised if there’s corruption involved in this.
