Longleat Safari & Adventure Park Bactrian camel

i did have a look at this and it said that there was only 2, a male and a female. i thought that there was atleast 12.
 
Nope there has always been two females (mother and daughter i think), i have seen them on animal park, maybe you are thinking of the dromedary?
 
Only 2? I'm fairly certain Josh is right and that the herd used to number around 12. Either a mistake or the herd has decresead a lot recently.
 
You must've been looking up the dromedaries, as I know there are only two of them.

I also thought the heard was much larger than this, In the early animal park series they seemed to be filming them often and there was definitely more than 2 then.
 
its funny,2 dromedarys at west midlands, 2 at longlete, whats happening to all the dromedaries!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
Well i've just looked at ISIS myself and it doesnt even show Longleat having Bactrian Camels. Surely this must be a mistake?

It is strange, I thought it was Bactrian but it clearly only shows 0.2 dromedaries.
 
of the two species I know that the dromedary is taller but is the Bacterian heavier?
 
last time i went to WMSP apart from the main herd of bactrians (eurasain reserve, was a strange looking camel in the african reserve next to the giraffe. I couldn't distinguish it as a bactrian or a dromedary it's hump was neither one nor two and sort of merged, it looked quite furry so in the end i thought it was dodgy bactrian. perhaps a hybrid?
 
Yep you are quite right this is another Hybrid Camel,the only pure Camels in any Safari Parks are the Bactrians,all the so called Arabians are Hybrids.
 
wow, that would be weird to see, a kinda two humped camels that are trying to stick together.
 
on the animal park series there were two baby camels born elvis and jasmine. does anyone know who there parents are?
