The article suggests (well only mentions they mated once) that this is a natural birth. Have any of the other cubs been born from natural conception?

The San Diego Zoo has been breeding giant pandas like rats (comparatively speaking:)) and I'm sure that the newborn(s) will keep the attendance just as high as it has been for the past few decades.

News report on the TV last night said first birth was AI but Gao Gao likes to do the buisiness himself and all the others were natural. Also said female is expected to have one or possibly two more cycles of breeding before she becomes too old and retires.

Good news for my former home zoo!

I would like to hear what you think of EO and the zoo and park overall as well, not necessarily in this thread though.

Would'nt call EO there biggest success story, but the rest of the zoo is outstanding!

awesome twin pandas, hope all goes well san diego has done a great job with pandas.

I was talking to one of the staff at the wild animal park who was telling me that the attendances this year were really down, as a result the extension of the African safari into asia could well be delayed. My lasting memory of my previous and only other trip to the wild animal park was the sheer number of Indian rhino and gaur, was very disappointed they arent visable to the general public anymore unless you pay through the nose to do the interactive tour from the back of a truck.
