It wasn't London, it was Bradford! Bradford is Yorkshire. There a quite a few mad people in Yorkshire. QED :)

The Bradford Batman has apparently been identified as a takeaway delivery driver, who was giving his (wanted-by-the-police) friend a lift to the police station. The costume had been put on to go to a football match as a joke and he just happened to still be wearing it!

Everyone (or most Americans anyway) knows that England is on mainland Europe ("it's an island???") and that there is just one city: London. ;)
