Beijing Zoo Beijing Zoo visit. Possible?

I'll travel to Japan next May. I have two options for travelling at similar prices, one with short stopovers and one with long stopovers. One of the options with long stopovers is visiting Beijing. One stopover (outbound) is about 11-12 hours and the second stopover (return) is about 15. I had thought about the option of using one of these stopovers to visit Beijing and its zoo. Do you think this option is possible? I've seen that the zoo is just over half an hour from the airport by car. I could take a taxi. Do you think this is possible? How many hours does it take to see the Beijing zoo? I've seen that they have a spectacular collection of primates, as well as many rare ungulates, birds, reptiles and amphibians. But I would only do this if it's possible to see the zoo properly, taking into account that I can't spend many hours there.

It is possible to take a taxi from airport to arrive at the Beijing Zoo, then go straightly to the Primate Island for the snob-nosed monkeys, and then go to the Ungulate Area for black muntjac and others, then go back to airport, within 11-12 hours. Avoid the weekends, as there will be crazy children everywhere.

I finally dismissed the idea. I was able to talk to zoonerds through social media who have visited the Beijing Zoo and they told me that I was at a very high risk of missing my flights if I did what I was planning, as the Beijing Zoo is very large and the collection has so many rare species that it is worth spending a lot of time there, or Ican miss many of those species. Also, I've seen that in the city are several other centers with interesting zoological collections. I think I'll have to plan a trip specifically to Beijing in the future, although I've already seen that there are wonderful collections spread throughout China.

Still, thanks for the advice.
