Beluga whales are not very common in North American collections, and apart from the trio of Seaworlds there are not many other establishments that have the beautiful white whales. Marineland, Shedd, Georgia and Vancouver are four aquariums with the species, and yet I believe that there is only the single zoo with a beluga. The Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium in Tacoma has a solitary male beluga whale, as the other male died unexpectantly this past weekend.

they are more common than what you can see in Europe......Belugas are not so easy to keep and i guess thats why most zoos and aquariums dont keep them.

I remember with great joy, my visit to the Vancouver Aquarium in 1996. The Belugas were definitely the highlight for myself and the entire family. Great display there, we watched them for probably 30 minutes.

Mystic Aquarium in Mystic, CT has three on permanent display and currently is housing Shedd's belugas until the new Oceanarium is complete
