Paid a short visit to this small but fine collection.
News : a nice group of Agama agama's
a male Parson's chameleon ( still behind the scenes but I was allowed to see it ).
Photos from both these animals are being uploaded in the Berkenhof's Gallery.

Visited again today and some new species entered the collection :
saw a male William's electric blue gecko which was housed together with a Klemmer's day gecko
in the fossil and dino-hall a small group of African spurred tortoised are housed in a newly created enclosure
for a small group of Red-footd tortoises a new enclosure was created in the main ( butterfly) hall
also in the fossil and dino-hall a new enclosure was placed for ( at least 1 ) Green tree python

Belangers tree shrew gave birth but the young was trown out of the nest-box. Its now being habd-raised by one of the keepers.

In June 9 Merakue blue-tongued skinks (Tiliqua gigas evanescens) hatched, this species is only kept in 6 European zoos according to ZTL.

In July atleast 3 Lesser hedgehog tenrecs (Echinops telfairi) were born, this is probably the first time that this species has bred in Berkenhofs Tropical Zoo.
