I am trying to do something new to come up with a list of the best American zoos according to this website. I will be putting up 7 of these polls, for several different regions. PLEASE only vote for ONE zoo in ONE poll!
I've visited 7 out of the 8 zoos on this list (Rosamond Gifford is the omission) and this section of the United States has the weakest grouping of zoos. National Zoo would be my second choice, but it is a no-brainer that the Bronx is the clear #1 here.
I voted Pittsburgh! Not out of overall quality but the initiative it has shown with the African elephant! With the four births, and the ICC, the program speaks for itself! Although I would have to say; if I wasn't biased with the elephants Bronx and National would be my winners
The only zoo on this list that I have been to was Philadelphia. However, that zoo shouldn't be in anyone's top 10 list in my opinion. Bronx is a zoo I really want to visit, so I voted for it.
Having been to all these zoos Bronx is the clear winner followed by National. Pittsburgh is an excellent zoo but just doesn't have the number of species you can see at the zoo's mentioned before. Rosamond Gifford is also a great but not well known zoo.
