Best Aquariums in the UK

I really enjoy visiting aquariums, as much as a zoo, but i always see people telling that there aren´t any good aquariums in Europe like the ones in Japan or the US. Well, for me, that´s not true. Valencia, Lisbon, Rotterdam, Genoa and maybe Brest all are great aquariums. But then i think about the UK (i also think about germany, but some zoos have aquariums in there, and it´s done).

Aquariums in the UK? What´s my first tought? SeaLife. It got to Portugal too. I visited the one in Porto and i didn´t liked it. When i visited London, i wanted to see the aquarium more than the zoo. But when i saw the words "Sea" and "Life" i tought: No.

Is UK only London? I don´t think so. What about the rest? Is there a great aquarium in the lands of her majesty?
I´ve heard good things about The Deep, in Hull. It doesn´t look that great, but not that bad.
So, could someone help me?

Thanks,
Silva :o

Having only visited the Sealife centres i thought that Aquariums weren't my thing either, but then i visited the National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth and was really impressed.

I would say that we don't have any aquarium on a par with the ones that you mention in your thread, but the closest that we have are,Hull The Deep,National Marine Aquarium Plymouth,Deep Sea World Scotland and just as an after thought Blue Planet Aquarium and Aquarium of the Lakes.
As for the Sealife centres the best as far as I'm concerned are London,Blackpool,Brighton and Weymouth.

Thanks very much both of you. I already tought that was the case. Do you know why there isn´t a great bet on Aquariums?

Thanks again :D

The Deep is the best one I've been to in the UK. Weymouth is probably the best Sealife due to its range of species. I've always wondered why we have so few high quality aquariums, maybe they wouldn't survive with the competition from Blue Reef and Sealife? Its a shame because all the Sealifes are virtually the same and I find them very boring after you've been to one (Weymouth aside from this because its outdoors). It would be great to see some more set up but I think there isn't much of a market left for any more to open.
