This is just a bit of fun to judge the general consensus on the best enclosure for Guenons in the Benelux. I have added a few photos from the gallery to make it easier for members to compare the different exhibits. If anyone wants to make an argument for a particular enclosure, please feel free to do so. Also, I would encourage people to list the enclosures in order of what they think is best.

If there are any outdated photos, collections that no longer hold them or people have photos for exhibits not in the gallery or with poor photos please let me know.

As a quick note Antwerp Guenon's are planned to move into the gorilla enclosure as well. Plenty of great enclosure. I think picking any enclosure from Apenheul or Beekse bergen is a viable choice. My personal choice goes to Beekse bergens DB since it's a solo enclosure, the monkeys have access to live trees, in general a fun enclosure with plenty of climbing foliage and shade and enrichment. A close second is Apenheuls Talapoin enclosure since it's a solo enclosure. I think Artis and Apenheuls Lhoest are great, however mixing with gorillas is not always best for the Guenon. (it does lead to wonderfull interactions sometimes but other times can lead to mortality)
Picking any other enclosure is fine for me Blanckendaell is just dead last. I would love to read your thoughts.

The photos do not show Apenheul's current talapoin enclosure. It once was, but after spending some time behind the scenes, they are now together with the king colobus in the new walk-through area. This is their current enclosure:

While I don't have a photo, Artis has a great indoor area with a sort of rainforest house feel. Of course the gorillas are the main attraction so their enclosure with be bigger by default. I also like the addition of crocodiles and other reptiles inside. Artis also has a great outdoor with excellent viewing opportunities but also features private spaces for each species if the want to be alone. If only the zoo gave this much care to the chimpanzees as they do the gorillas. Their enclosure is a classic example of why old zoo exhibits need refurbishment or destruction. I'll try and find a photo of it in media :)

When I visited Overloon in 2019, the DeBrazza's Guenons were running around with the Giraffes and the monkeys have access to some tall trees as well. It's actually a bit fascinating to understand how the primates are even contained in that exhibit!

There's a number of really impressive exhibits on this list, which is nice to see. I guess that I will go with Apenheul and the new Talapoin habitat there.
