Best Master Plans???

I have posted about this before, but the Brandywine Zoo started working on a master plan and it definitely isn't the best master plan, but it's a huge upgrade from what they have now.
Their current collection consists of around 40 animals on exhibit, representing 21 species (not counting bee colony).

This was the proposed animal collection as of June, 2018 and some things have changed and there are some changes and additional notes to go along with it.
  • There will be an opportunity to feed the flamingos.
  • Living with the Chilean Flamingos, Hoffmann's Two-toed Sloth, and Southern Pudu will also be White-faced Whistling-Ducks, Sun Parakeets, unspecified macaw species, and an unspecified species of aquatic turtle.
  • The small yard to the left of the Komodo Dragons' will house Tree Pangolin.
  • The building adjacent to the Komodo Dragon's outdoor yard will be a herpetarium.
  • The small yard near the lemur and Radiated Tortoise habitat will have Helmeted Guineafowl.
  • Along with the Ring-tailed Lemurs and Radiated Tortoises, there will also be Black-and-white Ruffed Lemurs and a breeding pair of Crowned Lemurs.
  • They will be incorporating their Bald Eagles and the most likely spot for them would be the exhibit to the right of the Canada Lynx.
  • There will be a glass tunnel going through the North American River Otter's exhibit, which guests will be able to slide through.
That makes about 60-70 species, triple the current amount.

Tree pangolins!!? How in the wold will brandywine get tree pangolins?

That's exactly what I was thinking! An employee was telling me about it and he said they might get them. I'm assuming from either the Turtle Back Zoo or Pittsburgh Zoo if they still have them. He did also say "Tree Pangolins all the way from Africa," so maybe they're importing them, but I'm not sure because they are endangered.

The best master plans are the ones that actually get built! :p
So, so true. It is so sad the amount of exciting masterplan that would really improve a zoo, and then end up being abandoned or heavily modified after a few years. I would almost rather a zoo make a slightly less ambitious masterplan that gets finished than a really ambitious one that has to be heavily modified or abandoned.

Omaha's current master plan has to be one of the best based on how good the exhibits outlined by it have been and how much of it has actually come to fruition. Only one major exhibit complex has been scrapped and it's vastly improved the experience for guests and animals.

Presumably one of the zoos that breeds them.

Not quite on topic, but I think Bruemmer Park Zoo has the worst master plan. The planned expansion to the deer exhibit alone makes me hate the entire thing, as it shows that whoever made the plan clearly doesn't know how to improve the zoo.

Ok well here is the master plan for the LA zoo. this zoo definitely needs this and it honestly looks great http://www.visionplan.lazoo.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/LA_Zoo_Vision_Plan.pdf
I'm really glad LA Zoo is getting a master plan. They have a really nice collection, but have outdated round houses. That master plan looks really, really nice. I like that they are getting rid of the round houses, making a new African section, and a California section. The current areas are getting into a jumble of different animals (for example the Eurasia area has lots of other animals from other parts of the world), so I'm glad that it looks like they're reorganizing things a bit more.

I'm just glad they got rid of the pits and are now finally organized. Also the water section looks awesome
