Best paint for animal holding spaces?

Hey everyone,

I work in the Facilities Department of a Zoo and have recently been working on getting paint touched up behind-the-scenes in preparation for inspections as well as just a general upkeep item. We typically use a 2-part water-based epoxy paint on the CMU walls but find that the frequent hosing from the keepers causes the paint to peel after a relatively short amount of time. Does anyone have any recommendations for a brand or type of paint that works better for holding areas that require frequent cleaning? Thanks in advance!

Honestly I'd say a better place to ask that question would be on the AZA listserv. If you don't have access to that yourself, your IR or someone at your facility should (any AZA professional member will be able to post of there). AZA requires an SDS sheet for all paints and other chemicals used, and we have to go through a pretty stringent approval process from our vet before we bring in any material that is going in animal areas. Good luck
