I voted for Edinburgh in 'other' as I've always liked the space they have assigned to them. The view from up there is a treat on clear days. The indoor area viewing was a novelty too. On my six visits over about ten years, I've always been lucky to see them active in Scotland. I have seen Amazon Worlds and Longleats attempts in the flesh and they are both utterly inadequate. I thought Yorkshire's was good and I recall having good viewings at Marwell before I stopped going some time ago (are they still there?)

Overall some decent spaces for giant anteaters. Yorkshire’s two enclosures are well done, with one being a mixed exhibit with the Venezuelan red howlers, formerly coatis, and the other having multiple viewing areas, the best one being an open air glass viewing area that looks over the pond in the enclosure. Well planted as well with mature trees, reeds and bushes. The indoor house could be improved to allow more privacy. Then again, almost all of YWP’s indoor spaces are very functional and simple, as they should be, which is fair, and the consistently high quality outdoor exhibits, plus the fact that most indoor areas are off-show, make up for this. Edinburgh also is on the same level in terms of quality, and together with YWP and Longleat (not so great as already mentioned) are the only places I’ve seen them very active. South Lakes looks to be also very well planted and lush, and a decent exhibit for them. What looks like a fallen tree certainly would provide a great place to forage and shelter. These would be my top 3.

Marwell’s sole Anteater left the collection some time ago now (I think it was last year but may have been before that). The enclosure is now occupied by Collared Peccary. That area of the zoo is scheduled to be redeveloped, but who knows what will happen going forward now.

Ernesto left on the 22/02/19 for Szeged Zoo.

I'm not sure actually, I voted for Colchetser but I'm debating between Dudley aswell. However Dudley's inside house is quiet small.

Do you know where they were located in the Zoo? Can't work out where this would be now
If you're referring to the picture posted early in this thread, that was the enclosure behind the giraffe paddock and between the Giraffe House and the Pygmy Hippo House.

Prior to that the giant anteaters enclosure was between the BUGS building and Regent's Park.

For many years before that, the giant anteaters were kept in the old Stork & Ostrich House which is where I remember them best.

Thank you

As mentioned earlier in the thread this appears to illustrate the issue with barred enclosures where an anteater could put their snout through the bars with the associated risk of injury. Guess it's a pretty common design.
I don't think the Anteater has ever been injured
