Best way to find old pictures of orangutans?

Hi, does anyone know of any ways to find old images of orangutans who have lived and died in zoos, when I already have the birth date, death date, name, and list of zoos they lived at? Sometimes they're really difficult to find, and I'm wondering if there's a place where these might be kept. Sorry if it's a silly question, I don't know much.

Beyond google? There's some public photo archives, especially by schools and historical societies, things like that. You're better off doing searches for any images of zoos with those, then finding orangutan photos and trying to match up with the info you have. A membership with newspapers.com could also be very helpful.

Newspapers.com was exactly what I needed, thank you!

I’ve found Getty Images invaluable for historical photos from high profile zoos. Smaller zoos are poorly represented - if at all; but I’ve found many interesting photos of my favourite species along with captions which offer some insight - even if it’s just the record of when an animal gave birth etc.

Like you say, newspaper archives also offer a wealth of information.
