Beyond Albino Alligators: An Orange One

interesting. I would agree with this comment in the article though: "Gary Morse from Florida Fish and Wildlife feels the orange color might be from some environmental element." It doesn't look like the alligator's actual skin colour. In fact it looks very like clay or some form of dye. I'd be surprised if an alligator of such striking appearance could get to this size in a presumably well-frequented area and not be reported prior to this.
 
I have seen photos of the Alligators at Gorge Wildlife Park and they looked white from the mud, until they were hosed down!
 
I agree with the above comment about clay as the tail seems to show normal colouring in parts or as my niece put it (has it been tango'd) I can see her point but is there any industrial works near by that could have inadvertantly put something in the water
