Chester Zoo Big Cats

Does anybody know if the zoo plans on bringing in any new Big Cat species? Personally I would like to see leopards brought in :)

I don't even know if any are coming but they would be African Leopards. They are all regarded as just one subspecies now.

I doubt they would go in for another big cat species, they only got the cheetahs the other year. I'd say if they did get a new cat species, then it would be a small one, possibly caracal?

I dont think chester need anymore big cats they all ready have tigers, lion, jaguars and cheetahs and I think another big cat species might be a bit overkill. especially seeing as the jaguars and cheetahs are major exhibits (and the tiger and lion enclosures are very good)

I joined the NEZS in 1976 when they kept

Common Leopard
Black Leopard
North Chinese Leopard
Lion
Tiger
Amur Tiger
Jaguar
Cheetah

There were clouded leopards around that time too, including a three-legged male called Jason. They never bred AFAIK

And, ofcourse, you'll remember the old cat house where miniature monkeys/crazy golf is now. Although this was a bit small by todays standards chester was very successful in breeding smaller species and i do think that they should bring them back into the collection. I would especially like to see clouded leopard.

I think amur leopards would be a good addition to chester

especially with how rare the Amur Leopards are now, would be a good opportunity to educate people .

I remember seeing the cat houses when i first went to Chester when i was about 9. Sounds weird but for a little kid who loved big cats it was almost magical :D

They have Amur Leopard at my local Zoo, Banham Zoo and they always look so happy playing with each other or lazing about! An excellent exhibit! It made me smile a lot, especially since you see a lot of Big Cats stereotyping

Aren't there Sri Lankan Leopards and Snow Leopards at banham, but Amur TIGERS?

I thought they had Sri Lankan Leopards at Banham if they have gone I think the management of the zoo need shooting, for replacing them with Amur Leopards.

I think clouded leopards would be a great addition to chester, maybe west mids amur leopards can be rehomed at chester they would have a better enclosure!
