It looks like common cranes in Europe are getting hit big by HPAI H5N1. They accumulated in high number (200.000) at their migration stop-over site in Hortobágy NP in Hungary in October and November. And there large number of birds probably got infected by bird flu and now they started to die.

One news article here speaks about 10k-20k crane bodies found in Hungary. I had just read about 30k in Hortobágy and Fehér-Tó areas alone.

Here is one case found in crane migrating near Munich in Germany (where cranes also migrate from Hotobagy) last week. This is just a tip of iceberg.

Cranes that stop at Hortobágy continue to migrate at several different routes. One goes over Balkan, Italy to Tunisia/Algeria, one way leads over northern Italy to France, another way goes over Austria, Germany, France to Spain, some birds migrate over Greece, Egypt to Ethiopia, some overwinter in Sebia/Croatia, few thousand migrated over Czechia towards Germany/Poland in November. All these places might see bird flu "tsunami" probably soon.
