Short snippet of news, they are removing all of their birds permanently, to authorised bird sanctuaries (not named).Apparently if you want to see the birds you have two weeks to do so

According to their website the koi have been moved from the tropical house to a purpose built pond, and there is also a butterfly house.

According to ZTL, the birds are as follows:
Asian azure-winged magpie
Blue and yellow and green-winged macaws
Greater hill myna
Himalayan monal
Indian peafowl
Monk and red-crowned parakeets
Purple and superb glossy starlings
Red-shouldered turquoise-fronted amazon
Rosy-faced lovebird
Temminck's tragopan
Umbrella and yellow-crested cockatoos
White-cheeked turaco

In the Botanical Gardens with animals thread, I wrote about the history of the Botanical Gardens, including the animals, check it out

I last went in 2010 and they had an aviary near the entrance housing small waxbills and finches.

Last time I visited was 2018 and many species had gone no waxbills or any species from the aviary just as you went in. Most species were as I call them Pet birds at the time.
So it comes as no surprise they are going out of avian species.

I think it's a real shame that they are ditching all of their birds, however I never really thought that the domed aviaries ever really reached their full potential
