Just to let everyone know the centre is now open everyday again until first week in November
I will be going on 29th March if anyone wants any questions or photos please let me know

Just added a photograph of the Grey Mouse Lemur in the gallery will be putting a full report on here 01 / 04 / 2011.

Visited the Centre 31 / 03 / 2011 on a cloudy and very windy day.

Arrived around 10.20 in the morning to find the centre virtually empty, the admission is now £4.00 per adult still great value compared to what you pay at most zoos and other collections.
On entry to the collection noticed right away they had done there usual winter move around.
The staff had been working hard during the winter to put up new fences and refurbish many of the enclosures there have been species leaving and new ones arriving.
The atmosphere within the centre was very friendly and very much family orientated, noticed that the entrance was also advertising for other local attractions.
Right now to the main aim of this report, what has moved left or arrived
Rhea is now in the enclosure just to the left of the main entrance/exit gate.
Jacob Sheep are now in the enclosure that used to hold the Bennett’s Wallaby.
Bennett’s Wallaby are now in with the Pygmy Goats directly in front of the main entrance/exit gate.
Now down to the more interesting stuff
As Chizlit as said in another thread the Beaver is now no longer in the collection he has moved to a local private collection.
In this enclosure they now have Hawaiian Goose and a pair of Reeve’s Pheasants
The Rhea have been moved and some have now moved to another collection (Dudley) they still have 4 Rhea left and will be keeping these to breed from as they are not related (I thought they were as they were all in Lilliput Village together).
Coatimundi have also left the collection but the keeper couldn’t remember as to where they had gone.
Geoffrey’s Marmosets now have what must be one of the biggest outdoor enclosures as they have the complete run of the Coatimundi enclosure (very large area for just 4 small monkeys).
Mara the centre now has 5 Mara they are in 2 groups we have a pair in the old Coatimundi enclosure with the Geoffrey’s Marmosets and 3 in the enclosure next to the Wallabies and Pygmy Goats.
Coming soon to the collection will be Squirrel Monkeys and Emperor Tamarins, the Squirrel Monkeys will go in an enclosure next to the Grey Mouse Lemur (Looks like one of the old aviaries as be refurbished for the Squirrel Monkey’s)
Emperor Tamarins will be going into the vacated area in Lilliput village by the Rhea work as started on this area.
The new map shows Pied Tamarins down by the marsh but couldn’t see them all I could see were what looked like foundations for a new enclosure.
Grey Mouse Lemurs are now in an enclosure that as a viewing area for the indoor part virtually in darkness both the entrance and exit doorways are covered in thick black plastic slats so the light barely comes into this area and I must admit it seems to work because last year these were very rarely out but now they seemed to be out most of the day.
Didn’t see any new additions to both the Reptile House and the Small Mammal house but was told there will be new additions in both shortly.
Over all I was impressed with the amount of work that as gone in over the winter and would willing recommend this collection to other people.
Still work to be done but in any collection there is always still work to be done.
Will be uploading photographs into the gallery tonight so please leave a comment also there are many more on my flickr page.

Really suprised Coatimundio have left, i thought they made a really engaging exhibit and made full use of their enclosure. I hope they plan to utilise this really good enclosure with the addition of some speciees ontop of the marmosets and mara's.

also have waldrapp ibis left the collection? where they were last time i visited seems to be occupied by the mouse lemurs according to the map.

Waldrapp are still in the avairy just behind the Grey Mouse Lemur when I visited as it looks like they are keeping this as an avairy to back onto Lillipud Village

The Squirrel Monkeys will be arriving in the first two weeks of April according to the Centre's Facebook.
Gambian Pouched Rat has given birth.
Green tree Monitor is now on display in the Reptile House.
And BNC has spoken to co-ordinator about some about Red Pandas so its a possiblity:)

Can anyone help now that they have moved the black and white ruffed lemurs to an enclosure next to the squirrel monky's (on there own website) does anyone know what is in thier enclosure.
Any more new arrivals since the end of March

This will probably be my last update for some time as I will be moving this week but wll still be visiting this site so here goes

MARA –

On Friday 8th April 2 new young were born both mother and young are doing fine and are now out in the enclosure by the Wallabies

MOUFLON SHEEP –

The male as been moved to the enclosure next to the original one as there are now 2 young lambs in with their mother both mother and young are doing well and can easily be seen from the pathway

SOAY SHEEP –

I was very surprised to see a small group of lambs in the middle of the enclosure I managed to count them after a while and there are now 6 new lambs in the collection

SQUIRREL MONKEY –

These have now arrived unsure where from but they have been put in the old Black & White Ruffed Lemur enclosure between the Geoffrey’s Marmoset House and the Small Mammal house I managed to count 3 in the enclosure this would make it a very nice large outdoor enclosure for the monkeys

BLACK & WHITE RUFFED LEMURS –

These have now been moved to the Old Aviary by the Soay Sheep enclosure this has been refurbished for the Lemurs (photographs taken)

WALDRAPP / SACRED IBIS & GREY PEACOCK PHEASANT –

They have now put all these Birds together in the old aviary next to the Ocelot enclosure, in my opinion this is slightly over crowded for the birds

TURKEY –

They have now moved the Turkey to the enclosure with the Reeve’s Pheasant and Hawaiian Goose (Old Beaver enclosure)

SCOTTISH WILDCAT -

It’s a sad day as the Scottish Wildcat is no longer in the collection unsure as to what has happened to the cat (on last visit did ask if the Scottish wildcat was still in the collection and was told definitely yes he was not going anywhere)

TEMMINCK’S TRAGOPAN –

These are now in the Scottish Wildcat enclosure; it appears they now have a breeding pair

WHITE NAPPED CRANE –

An area around the pathway leading to the Blue Crane enclosure as been secured off as the female is sitting on the nest and the male was very defensive towards anyone who stood there for more than a few seconds.

GEOLDI’S MONKEY –
They now have a young Geoldi’s monkey it can be seen in the outdoor area of the enclosure

The geoffroy's marmosets have been sent to another collection as they have just received 3 female Golden Headed Lion Tamarins from Colchester Zoo.

Just a quick few notes

Scottish Wildcat -
Sad news here I am afraid she passed away earlier this year at the grand old age of 22 she will be missed by both staff and visitors alike

White Napped Crane -
Is sitting on one egg again she as done this for a couple of years now but up until this year she as been unable to hatch one (maybe better luck this year)

Reeves Pheasants -
The ones in the avairy next to the Grey mouse lemurs have had 3 chicks they were running around the aviary quite freely yesterday

Geoffreys Marmosets -
Have returned to there original collection (Colchester) so as to make way for the golden headed lion tamarins

Emporer tamarins -
These still have not arrived as work is still on going on thier new enclosure.

Red Panda arriving at Heathrow this afternoon 27/07/2011 from Salzburg Zoo will be on show 28/07/2011 Taken from Facebook page

Pied Tamarins are due to arrive, one from Paignton and another from Jersey. They have been allocated Golden lion Tamarins according to facebook.

Just found this update on facebook

‎2 male Golden Lion Tamarins called Cortez and Pablo. They arrived from Copenhagen Zoo on the 13/10/11. They are in quarantine for 6 months. Visitors can see them on a TV screen close to our Golden Headed Lion Tamarin enclosure where we have constant live footage of them.

Also as we know usually about this time of year the centre only opens on a weekend untill about the first week of April but this year the centre is staying open 7 days a week except for christmas day
