It could not dive properly and had a deviation to the left while swimming. The exact cause of death is being investigated. The other Kemp's ridley sea turtle Boeier is doing well. What are the BTS facilities for rascue of sea turtles like at Blijdorp Ocean?

If they are overtly covered in barnacles this is an indication of environmental stress on the inidividual turtle.

The best is individual tanks for each turtle so they can be individually monitored and interventions are more easily accomplished.

BTW: Similar strandings have occured on the SE and southern coastlines of US with sea turtles where they enter a kind of torpor when sea temperatures or cold streams are encountered.
