Blue Zoo Coming To Iowa

I have some vivid memories of a touch-pool in an Aquarium in South France.
Somehow I can't picture it in my head somehow, though I remember holding in my hand a sea cucumber. It was an interesting texture...
Though the funny thing is that I recall in that particular touch pool quite a few of the animals there were not the best for human hands - small, fast fish, urchins etc... so maybe it's not so much a surprise that the last time I was there there was a diner in its place =s

Looks like Blue Zoo, the relatively new aquarium chain, will be expanding to Des Moines, Iowa. The new aquarium will be located in the Village of Jordan Creek Town Center area, with a target opening in January 2024, maybe Christmas of this year.

Blue Zoo aquarium is coming to Jordan Creek: what to know

The trend of "mall aquariums" is very fascinating to me, especially how quickly they are popping up.

I never expected a Blue Zoo to open in Iowa, although the suburbs surrounding Des Moines are increasing in population like crazy (Ames, Ankeny, ect.), so I guess this is a smart idea. Definitely interesting news, especially with the extreme lack of zoological facilities in the state. I'm not sure if it's something worth visiting personally (collection seems extremely basic), but interesting nonetheless.

Blue Zoo has been focusing on a particular type of city. Their locations are Baton Rouge, Oklahoma City, Spokane WA, and Rogers Arkansas.

It is NOT worth visiting. It is by far the worst mall chain out there. They're essentially little kid playgrounds with some animals.
