Bornean Clouded Leopard

This is excellent news, thanks for the article, I always thought that clouded leopards only roamed the northern part of borneo in Malaysia but in Sebangau this is great news for the future and present,
 
I agree my bet is regular, borneon clouded leopard has a more light covering, I find, and it is most likely anyway that the zoo to have a regular one anyway,

Do you know where the photos originate ie. which zoo/park? I understand that there may actually be examples of the Bornean Clouded leopard in captivity. Making comparisons with my own photos (of regular Mainland cloudies) they are different, but not quite as dark as I would have expected a Bornean to be. Markings seem to be closer together then individuals I have seen at Taronga and Howletts.

Not sure, very young individual in a zoo in Malaysia or Thailand (I think, could be wrong). Story came out after recognition of 'new' species. Possibly a confiscation, which explains why it is outside normal range.
 
yes, many Malaysian and Thai zoos have Clouded Leopards as I have seen on documentaries, but the subspecies, I don't know,

I know that plenty of Thai and Malaysian zoos have cloudies... I meant that it was a zoo in one of these countries that had a young Bornean individual. The vast majority of individuals in captivity are the mainland species.
 
Does anyone know where the leopards from the Aspinall Parks originate from? It would be great if there were from one subspecies.

I see from your Vacation, hmm, then there is a slight possibility gain that it could be a Borneon Sub-species, as they inhabit surronding jungle. But I'm no cat expert,

Not sure of origin, but all individuals at Howletts and Port Lymne resemble Mainland species. As mentioned before vast majority of cloudies in captivity are of this species. Probably only a handful of Bornean species in captivity. Mostly due to ease of availablity.
 
Would you know which westernal zoos have successfully bred Clouded Leopards, ?
 
Apart from obvious - Howletts, Zoo Prague is another one to mention, if it is westernal enough:) Well, surprisinly both of the young breeding pair are from Howletts. Sadly ISIS didn't find anything else.
 
Frankfurt had a young animal last year who died (i believe choked in a hole in the breeding box or something) and i believe they've bred again after that incident. There might also be some breeding going on in french zoo's but i'm not sure...
