I couldn't find the thread discussing the elephants of Borneo, but this is an interesting bit of news...

its a very interesting theory and one that has merit - bornean elephants are undeniably a distinct race, however there is no fossil evidence that the species has ever existed on the island.

i'm gonna (tentatively) go with it.
