There is an interesting story in the Provincial newspaper today about how hunting licenses have slowly been on the increase in B.C., and there is reference to sustainable hunting in the Province. I have never hunted in my life and never will, but at the same time it is not difficult to be an advocate of both sustainable hunting and the conservation of a range of species. I thought that the statistics would interest some ZooChatters, and it is also intriguing that while hunting licenses are on the rise they are still almost half of what they were 30 years ago.

2012 resident kills - by species: (I rounded off the figures)

Deer = 33,000
Moose = 7,000
Elk = 3,900
Black Bear = 2,800
Grouse = 137,000
Duck = 47,000
Geese = 15,000
Turkey = 570
