I'm a big fan of this exhibit.

Can anyone explain how the ditch works separating the lions and the other species? I'm curious to know how it keeps them in.

It is a rather deep moat. Should a lion hop down into it, they'd face a large sheer wall on the antelope side. And, of course, the moat is too wide for lions to jump across.
