The Ocean is one of the main ecodisplays in Burgers' Zoo, but as is common in aquaria the signage is often poor, I decided we could use an up-to-date species list. Below is a list that is as complete as possible, given the limitations of finding all fish in the large tanks.

The map puffer is dead as far as I am aware. I could do some checks saturday once I am at work again!

I hope you will list the marine invertebrates as well...!!!

Okay, let's be serious: Great job. And thank you for that.
(However: If you can get the names of the invertebrates, they would be very welcome too):D

The picture of the unknown fish is now in the Identification gallery, help is appreciated:

There still is one puffer in the Lagune (the part with the Guitarfish) I recall, which I assumed to be the Map puffer...

I wasn't planning on doing that, but I can e-mail the curator and see whether he would be willing to share which corals, anemones, molluscs and echinoderms they currently have. I doubt whether even they know all the species they have in the tanks, especially when it is down to Foraminifers ;)

This is a really cool new thread, and I actually went fairly recent, on the 30th of december to Burger's to actually ID fish, I did this by actually making a list of fish names (from ZTL on the Burger's Zoo current holdings) + pictures (to ID them easier) print this and take it with me alongside a trusty pencil and check mark every species I recognized. Got to admit though, that I definitely saw a lot of fish that I didn't have on my list.. So I'll list what I found. (This will probably contain dublicates as I just want to list them all so you can compare with what you have found. This is a list of fish I have seen with own eyes, not from the signs!)
I will list every species I have seen, and I'll try to note where I specifically saw it from my memory, the ones I do at least.
So without any further ado, here's my list! I hope you can find some usage with this list.

Thanks for the effort. I already saw some species you have listed with a ??, but there are also some I missed ;).

May I ask where you saw the Pseudobalistes flavimarginatus? I visited Burgers' Zoo already a few times but I was never able to see/ find it.
Also, anyone any idea what happened to the Arothron immaculatus? I saw the last specimen about a year ago. Is it still alive?

And last but not least: the Priacanthus hamrur and Cromileptes altivelis are missing in your lists, they are swimming around in the high aquarium right after the lagoon, together with the morays

The hamrur have only been reintroduced recently with a few other priacanthus subs. Altivelis hasn't been in for a while as far as I know.

The Priacanthus hamrur can be found in the ocean for a few years already. But before a few weeks ago, only two of them were on show. They recently added a new group to the aquarium. I don't know if they are the same species.
I saw an altivelis on 24/12/2018

Oh my goodness, I actually made a mistake. I checked my list cause I didn't recall seeing it, and there was indeed no check mark. My bad!
The Pseudobalistes flavimarginatus is either behind the scenes then or just not kept at all.
The Arothron immaculatus is not kept anymore to my knowledge, didn't see one when I went there.

A friend of me saw one Pseudobalistes flavimarginatus today. The fish was swimming together with a Balistapus undulatus in the lagune

I indeed saw a P. flavimarginatus in the Lagune. The B. undulatus always used to be in the Moray eel tank, but did not see it on my last visit in either tank. On the Wobbegong side of the Lagune there is now also a Blue-spotted ribbontail ray. In the Shark tank the Shovelnose ray is back on display after it was temporarily behind the scenes in recent months.

I have updated the species list for the Moray eel tank after signage has been updated, allowing to identify the different (Hetero)Priacanthus and Soldierfish species in the tank.

Great list!
But i have one suggestion though, maybe its good to split the lagune species list into 2 lists? I know its one tank but the fish can't go from one tank to another (although it does happen sometimes), but they aren't meant to go from one place to the other.

Edit:
Snowflake moray eel is dead,
and the epaulette sharks moved to the shallow lagune
Sea nettles are also dead and there is now plastic there
And atleast 1 golden angelfish (Centropyge aurantia) swims in the coral reef tank
The shallow lagune has pyjama cardinals
The coral reef tank has engineer gobies (Pholidichthys leucotaenia), these are not visible to the public and are only seen by divers.

The coral reef aquarium is now also home to Moorish idol (Zanclus cornutus), there are two of them.
