As the article states, it started in Los Angeles (Lincoln Heights) in the early 1900's but moved to Buena Park in the second half of the century (closing in 1984). I believe the (frightening) photos are all older from the Lincoln Heights era. I did visit this zoo in the Buena Park location as a child. It was across the street from Knott's Berry Farm. (There was another animal attraction in Buena Park at this time called Japanese Deer Garden, which I also visited as a child). I don't really remember anything about the place. My only memory was around 1982 or 1983 (in high school) I borrowed my parents car and took some friends to a night opening (New Year's Eve?) at Knott's Berry Farm. We parked in a small parking lot across the street that was connected to California Alligator Farm. I remember my friend telling us to look over the fence and we could see an ostrich.
