Hi, I found one parc in Spain and almost nothing about it in english so I made one gallery on my web. I enclose the description in english and a link up to there.

In the September I decided to go to the place called Caňada de los Pájaros. If sometimes I said the most beautiful zoological institution I have ever seen is the holland parc for abandoned parrots Veldhoven which has broken the record of my visitors´ attendance so Caňada de los Pájaros is a very heavy rival for Veldhoven. It is the first reintroduction station on the Crested Coot (Fulica cristata) in the world and I think also currently the only place in Europe where the Crested Coot reproductS in the captivity. I was accompanied to Caňada by my friend José Luis.

BASIC IDEA OF THE PARC
This place was founded in 1986 in the space of the abandoned gravel-pit. Its owner Plácido had to built all the parc manually with no financial subvention and this state has stayed like this until now. Do not wait luxurious expositions because all the parc lives from the incomes of the visitors and the photographers. Parc is created of some ponds which get dry during the summer and despite of I was there in the period of dry when the number of the birds is the lowest, I was shocked by a huge density of birds.

Plácido´s biggest advantages are the long-term experiences from the field. This man has deserved my deep admiration because some species he breeds and some of them reproducts in the parc are very hard to maintain. I have to mention that he and his wife Maribel are the only employees of all the parc and all what you´ll see there is a piece of work of only two persons.

If I ignore lots of ducks, geese, storks and flamingos (mainly semiwild populations) he succesfully reintroduced more than 600 Crested Coots to the wild and he also have a succesful program of introduction of the Common Crane (Grus grus) in this part of Andalusia. Other species which are his targets of interest are e. g. Spanish Sparrow (Passer hispaniolensis), Squacco Heron (Ardeola ralloides), Purple Heron (Ardea purpurea), Pin-tailed Sandgrouse (Pterocles alchata) and others. The parc is really full of rare european bird species. To maintain the visitors´attendance he also looks for some exotic species to his spacious expositions – you can see here e. g. Blue-throated Piping-guan (Pipile cumanensis), American White Ibises (Eudocimus albus) or original non-hybridised Muscovy Ducks (Cairina moschata).

If you come to the Coto Doňana don´t forget to visit this extraordinary place which is not probably so comercially atractive as Papegaaienpark Veldhoven but has a great spirit inside and a lot of hard work is very visible here. Paying attention these things Caňada de los Pájaros wins for me in front of all other zoos I have seen this year.

Hi Quetzal, only a little correction about you mention for first breed of Crested coot, the first place for successful breed was in Doñana National Park in the Integral Reserve Breed Centre. And this it´s not the only one centre that breed this species, At La Albufera de Valencia Natural Park, they breed Crested coot for many years too.
In the other hand thank you very much for this review.

Hi, you have told me interesting information I did not know. Crested Coot is not very oftenly breed species so I have heard about the only center having them. Many thanks!

Do you know the exact name of the stations having them? I have not found nothing with the name Integral Reserve Breed Centre nor you have not write me the name of the center in Valencia.

Hasta luego.

Hi, Quetzal! let me explain a bit: :)
I have friends (biologists) working in the Centro de Recuperación de Fauna "la Granja" (Rescue & Recovery Fauna Centre) named "The Farm" in the Saler village, near to Valencia ,into the Albufera Natural Park, the coordinators for the breeding and reintroduction program for Crested coot in wetlands from Valencia, Alicante and (maybe) Castellón provinces, travelled to Morocco for to obtain Crested coot eggs (this population it´s the most genetically related) and incubate the eggs in "La Granja" and to create with this animals the founder population, for to liberate, her offspring in the Wetlands. In Doñana remains a very little wild population (around 40 animals I think) related with the Morocco populations.
This process began in the last years of 90´s or in 2000 i´m not 100% sure.

Nashledanou!
