cape hunting dogs

The really interesting questions I would like to ask would probably seem too personal and might be interpreted as critical when they are not meant to be, eg how did you get into this, what training/experience do you have, how does one go about importing an animal like this, where are you, how much land have you got, how much money have you got, have you got another job etc etc.

Poor old sebbe was scared away by people just asking too many questions ;)

Sebbe was what came to mind when she was upset with questions. People have attempted to con us here before and when questions are avoided I get suspicious.
animalbeebee is real though. I was going to leave her to post the link herself but seeing she has stated she won't be back there's no harm. Here's the facebook page for her collection: Park Exotics | Facebook

I do hope animalbeebee comes back to the forum, but in fairness I don't think anybody here was intentionally rude to her (although dogman's comments could have been interpreted as such). As zooboy28 remarked, animalbeebee did respond to quite normal Zoochat questions in a very prickly way and then said she wouldn't be back.

I think the main problem is that, this being a zoo forum, most of the posters are interested to a large extent in the conservation aspect of keeping animals, whereas on (for example) RFUK almost all responses to posts on exotic pets are along the lines of "OMG so cute!", "wow you're so lucky", "I wish I had some of those" and that sort of thing. Very rarely does anyone bring up important questions (and on RFUK it seems those that do get shouted down, and anyone that has a different opinion to the main forumers eventually gets banned). I guess animalbeebee wasn't prepared for that. I can't speak for his reasons and it may not be related to what I just said, but it is interesting that mrcriss came over here to ask about any conservation plans for these dogs rather than ask on the RFUK thread.

This is just about totally bang on! :D

I find the sycophantic nature of RFUK to be a little too much sometimes, and you can't ask the pertinent questions there without being shouted down and flamed. That forum makes "celebrities" out of some of it's contributors, and woe betide anyone that should question them!

I hope animalsbeebee returns here because people with collections such as theirs are valuable when it comes to doling out advice. However, I have to say that even though I'm new to ZooChat, I like the directness of asking relevant questions that I've seen in this thread......and any offence caused should be taken with a pinch of salt. This is, after all, only words written by anonymous people on a forum....not something to get that worked up over!

Good to have you back on here animalsbeebee :) here's hoping you have as much success with the dogs as you have had with some of your other treasures of late.

Hello,
I run a wildlife center in the U.S., New York State, to be exact. Would you mind telling me how you were able to import your dogs? I've looked into getting a breeding pair for out facility's endangered species breeding program, however, I've been told that it's impossible to import any from Africa for a private collection. I'm delighted to see that you've been successful in doing what I thought couldn't be done. Would you ever be willing to sell a d export 1-2 pups to our facility?
