The new issue of the Feline Conservation Federation journal lists their current member holding census. The FCF, for those who do not know, is a support organization for wild cat owners and others (like myself) interested in cat conservation. This census lists the numbers of each species that are currently held by FCF members.

Please note this list does NOT include cats outside the FCF, which means most of these are NOT part of the AZA. The one that surprised me is four jaguarundis. I do know of four - 2 at Cat Haven and 2 at Exotic Feline Breeding Compound - but I know Cat Haven is not part of FCF and I am not sure about Exotic Compound. So there are at least two other and possibly four other jaguarundis somewhere in the country. There are also more leopard cats still around than I thought, which is a promising sign.

The first number is the number of individual cats and the second number (in parenthesis) is the number of facilities/individuals holding them.

No. The list was just names and numbers as I have listed them - no specifics at all. Some could be at Great Cats World Park in Oregon. I am not sure if he is FCF, but I know he has african wildcats and possibly they are the only african wildcats in the country. So the fact that FCF lists these makes me think that the park is part of FCF. I know that park has at least one or two amur leopards, so that might be it?

I think I misread your initial post. Are members of the AZA not members of FCF? I thought it said most AZA are included in the FCF figures.
