Edinburgh Zoo Centenary Talks

Was looking at the Edinburgh Zoo website and the banners for a Budogno Trail and a Presentations talk to celebrate the centenary caught my eye. Are all the sections doing this or is it just these two. Look like they would be quite interesting, especially hearing from the keepers themselves rather than through (i assume) an office-based person updating the blog. Have never noticed these adverts before, usually just go straight to the blog via google.

Have i missed any? Are they worth going to? Anyone planning on going to any of these talks

The Centenary talks have been going on over the past few months and have already covered Carnivores, Hoofstock and, I think, Birds. There are still more to come until around March 2010 including Budongo Trail, Presentations, Primates, Conservation and Gardens. The info for them should be on the website with dates and booking info.
All of the talks are done by the keepers/staff of each section so its a good chance to ask any questions on current and future events.

I went to the first two (one about Mercedes before she moved and the other was the penguins) and both were excellent. It was the keepers doing the talks and I think it made them more interesting. I would recommend them especially if you are interested in one group of animals and want to find out more about them.

I've beeen to all of the talks and have enjoyed every one of them. Even the gardens talks have been really good, and that's speaking as someone whose interest in gardening used to begin and end with "I have a front one."

That fact that it is the keepers and staff makes it even more interesting. As has already been mentioned wlsewhere on this forum, the keepers really enjoy talking about their animals, so giving them a chance to do so in an amazing presentation format means they have to be told to only select a few animals to talk about.

I would recommend these talks and at only £6 for non-members and £4 for members they are excellent value for money!

Spotted a members talk for next year that will be about the future for the zoo. Think that one may well be worth going to if you are a member.
