New zoo opening this year on the Central Coast, New South Wales:

I recently came across a Facebook page announcing that a new zoo was opening soon on the central coast of New South Wales (an hour from Sydney). Not much has been announced so far and I can't find much beyond their page/website but it looks like they will be focusing on exotics. Images on Fb and their logo have alluded primates (common marmosets at least) and boa constrictor so far. They will be open for private encounters sometime this year apparently. Some relevant quotes:

"Central Coast Zoo is a unique and intimate opportunity where you can get up close and personal with some exotic animals from other parts of the world right here on the Central Coast NSW, just over an hour north of Sydney. Book a private encounter today. We plan to open for private encounters in early 2021."

Today, the zoo announced that their first exotic animals have arrived:

"The NSW Central Coast will soon be home to some incredible exotic animal species. Visitors can meet and greet some beautiful wildlife ambassadors that originate from all over the world! The first exotic animals have arrived and we will start announcing our collection over the coming week."

My bet it is the Amazement Farm and Fun Park at Wyong Creek. They have a maze similar to to the one in the photo and the property has recently sold. The new owners are promising "something never before seen in the region". Sale infomation here: Wyong Creek’s Amazement fun park sold, huge changes teased - realestate.com.au

The Amazement Farm apparently already have a wildlife park and bird aviaries. It would be interesting if anybody has ever visited and can describe their current facilities.

I'm sceptical about this on face value - a website with nothing on it, and a Facebook page with nothing on it. But @MRJ is probably correct.
I can confirm it is the location, and the principal already has a small collection including tamarins. Lots of money behind it.

Update from their Facebook page. Central Coast Zoo have now confirmed they are indeed located within the Amazement Farm and Fun Park as already discussed above. They will be open for booked experiences by the winter school holidays as a separate offering to the existing fun park.

They have also announced their first species - a Boa Constrictor:

"Bubbles the Boa Constrictor is still settling in at Central Coast Zoo, we are located within the Amazement Farm and Fun Park on the Central Coast NSW, we are hoping to be in full swing for private exotic animal encounters and experiences in the July school holidays (this is a separate offering to Amazement Farm and Fun Park). There is a bunch of new exotic animals joining us... so watch this space. We have been inundated with private messages we, we will try to get back to people as soon as we can."

Another exotic reptile species has now arrived. A Corn Snake:

"Another beautiful species that has recently joined us @ Central Coast Zoo - it's Cecil the Albino Corn Snake, they originate from North America. This species has been known to be kept as an illegal pet in Australia and this can cause lots of drama for native wildlife, as they could possibly spread disease and they compete for resources in the wild"

Central Coast Zoo now have Illiger's/Blue-winged Macaw (Primolius maracana) - very uncommon birds in captivity at least in Australia: Central Coast Zoo
An interesting way to start a zoo. As I understand it the gentleman concerned is a demonstrator with a sizeable collection of exotics. He is clearly moving them in one by one each time creating a bit more publicity. Smart move.

However he is a fair way from putting these animals on display, as there are potential legal problems in him getting a Displayers license. Thus the plan to “demonstrate “, ie run encounters on a one to one basis, in the meantime.

I've had the pleasure of a chat with the gentleman mentioned above, and there is a little more clarity. The venue already has a license which is now held by a relative, and he is assisting with providing animals, etc. In that regard the current facilities are still open, but the development of the exotic collection will, as with all these things, depend on time and money.

If they have taken on the animal collection from the previous owners, then they already have an interesting collection of birds and animals. Photos from google maps show camels, llamas, a deer (looks like a Rusa) cape barren geese, blue & gold macaws, ostrich, golden pheasants and some very attractive aviaries for Australian birds as well as the typical domestic farm animals.

The zoos Facebook page shows they have a pair of Double headed Amazon Parrots. It appears they may have an interesting Parrot collection!

MRJ, you mentioned speaking to the guy who is starting this up or at least currently has the exotic collection, did you get a name?

The zoo will also be receiving a new species of snake via an importation. Once the mystery species is in quarantine they will give further details; “we have just received information that we have another species of exotic snake joining us in the coming few months, the pair is being imported from overseas!! We will let you all know when they are in quarantine.” Log into Facebook | Facebook
