Fresno Chaffee Zoo Chaffee Zoo Masterplan

I went to this zoo two years ago, and is good to see that they will almost rebuilt the whole zoo. The zoo was not bad, but they had the typical little zoo concept.
 
I am curious to see what will happen here. Their Director of recent years, who fought for all this, has accepted a position in Columbus and a new Director is on the way. Many things will be re-thought.
 
Although I have not been to this zoo, I do have an interest because the director they hired was the curator at my zoo. They had trouble with their expansion plans a few months ago because a descendant of the founder of the park they are located in objected to the zoo expanding into the park and destroying some of the trees. He was trying to block their expansion, but I have not heard any news about this recently.
 
Another California zoo I've never visited. Even after passing through several times on my way to Yosemite National Park. Add Chaffee Zoo to my ever expanding list.

Here is an ideal two or three day weekend driving from Los Angeles. One day at Chaffee Zoo, next morning at Project Survival Cat Haven (which is a few miles outside the entrance to Kings Canyon Nat Pk), then continue on to Kings Canyon and Sequoia.

Thanks Arizona Docent. Sounds like a nice getaway since I've also never been to Kings Canyon or Sequoia National Parks either.

The link no longer works anymore, does anyone have the pdfs of the old 2007 zoo master plan downloaded? I'm doing a research project on the zoo and in general I'm really curious and want to see what exhibits and species were planned.
