I have some minor updates on the issues the GV Zoo has had, and what's being done to correct them.
More specifically, I received an E-mail from my source today. I've learned that the reason I heard nothing since my initial post last summer is because there have since been a number of meetings between the GV Zoo and the BC SPCA, with senior representatives from CAZA serving as mediators and also offering input of their own, and not all the details are ironed out as yet.
All I can say with confidence at this point is that there will be, from this point onward, regular meetings between the zoo, the BCSPCA, and (if needed) CAZA, to help ensure the zoo's full compliance with CAZA's accreditation standards.
I'm nowhere near certain how this will affect the zoo's operations, or what the final outcome will be, but I will say I'm less worried about their critter collection now than I was even a few months back.
Further details to be posted as I get them. Happy travels.
