She had a great time thanks gentlelemur, she really loves animals and it encouraged her to talk quite a bit (She's selective mute) which was amazing to experience as she hardly talks at school (i'm also her 1:1 teacher at school). Her brother loved the photography aspect of the visit which was also great.
I find that children look at people with Down Syndrome because they are curious, whereas adults should know better and realise that it's rude to stare! I heard lots of comments about her being "retarded" which I was really shocked at, especially now when there are lots of people around with disabilities etc. The staff however were amazing, the lady in the discovery centre was lovely; she spent ages trying to encourage the kids to hold the insects and the snail and then she even took the lad (can't name either of the kids) to see the skeletons etc. The staff at the elephant and giraffe feeds were great too.
