haha!
I emailed this idea to the zoo about a year ago citing the San Diego ones on iTunes as a good example, but got no response.
I would definately be interested in listening to a podcast
There could be two ways of doing it:
- a guided tour podcast: tells you details about enclosures, history of the zoo, details of individual animals etc. Visitors can download this before their visit and follow it from their mp3 player as they are going around the zoo. With it being a podcast, sections can be updated when new enclosures are built or individual animals leave and arrive - meaning it is more up-to-date than a guidebook.
- a news update: a semi-regular news broadcast announcing births, deaths etc
My preference would be the first one as it would be more useful to the wider public.
