The post about does London need another zoo made me think why not ask the question about the rest of the country. Are there other cities, towns or areas that you think could sustain or warrant a zoological collection. Sure there were small city zoos in Southampton ,Plymouth and Southport for instance but sadly are long gone - could a zoo go back to these places. For me it would make sense Manchester , Newcastle and Cardiff. all big cities ,all get tourists etc.Thoughts please

The whole northeast is rather lacking in the zoological department!
The North East has historically been a poor area for zoos.
Ditto South Wales.

It's not just the north east either, before YWP opened there has been no major collection really all the way up that side of the country from Nottingham through the large urban areas of Yorkshire & the North East, until you reach Edinburgh(ignoring theme parks)! It makes me appreciate how lucky I am to have so many zoos within easy reach!
Sorry, by the North East I was including Yorkshire not just Northumbria.
I've always thought that if I'd won or inherited a few million 20 years ago then a really substantial zoo located between Leeds and York could be commercially viable.
