Nashville Zoo Clouded leopard birth

After the birth of 3 cubs last year to the breeding pair of Jing Jai and Arun, the Nashville Zoo has recently announced the birth of a single cub to the same pair on 24 May 2010:

There is the potential for further births over the next few years from two other non-sibling pairings held in Nashville (these animals are only currently 1-year-old).

Congratulations to all involved!

The zoo's latest litter of clouded cubs is now on public display, sounds like the same area (glass enclosure in the petting zoo) where the last group was that I photographed in 2009.

Of course now I am dying to go there, because I am a cat fanatic and I had a great time watching the last group and Nashville is one of my favorite zoos and favorite cities. But I really can't go because I don't have the money and already have my next two trips lined up (Albuquerque early July and Dallas etc early September). I assumed these cubs would be off exhibit so there would be no temptation to go. How can the Nashville Zoo staff be so cruel to me?

They are cute as hell, but why the f*** are all these cubs handraised?! The keepers from Nashville should pay a visit to Howletts in the UK to learn how to manage cloudies without handraising every single litter. That is totally not necessary, Howletts is the most sucessful breeder in the world and all their cubs are parent-reared.

AAAHHH! The end of the video says there are five clouded leopard cubs on exhibit through the end of summer.

(I just paid off my credit card. Are those evil people at Nashville going to make me break it out again? Five cubs is hard to pass up - especially at one of my favorite zoos in one of my favorite cities.)

Well it did not take me very long to decide on this one, thanks in part to enough Southwest airmiles to get a free flight there (just had to pay for the return). One month from now it is kitty time! :) As a bonus, they also have two seven month old pumas.
