Nashville Zoo clouded leopard cubs

The Nashville Zoo website is announcing that their 3 clouded leopard cubs will be on exhibit starting September 4, 2009. They even have a cute video overlay of them that appears briefly on the screen as soon as you go to the site. They will not be in the regular exhibit - the adults will still be there (which based on photos may be the best clouded leopard exhibit in the country). They will be in the new petting zoo area (I forget what it's called). I got a personal email from the zoo, however, stating that they are in an outdoor area with natural surroundings that should be conducive to photography.

Being the cat fanatic that I am, and considering the rarity of clouded leopard cubs (especially on public display), I have of course already booked a flight to Nashville for mid September.

Are you going to visit any other zoos nearby? I know that you love the cat exhibits at the Memphis Zoo...

Not this time, although I do love Memphis (which will get even better next month with the opening of Teton Trek). Just a quick trip, staying downtown Nashville and taking the bus to the zoo. The 2011 AZAD convention (Association of Zoo & Aquarium Docents) is being sponsored by Memphis Zoo, so I will probably go back then, when hopefully their planned hippo exhibit will be open.

You will not be disappointed ...

The 3 cubs (2 male [Luk and Chet], 1 female [Sita]) went on exhibit in Critter Encounters on 4 September. These cubs were born to a pair who are kept off-exhibit and who were imported from Thailand.

Nashville also possess another pair of cloudies, a brother and sister (Ming and Mei) who are 6-years-old, who featured in the Animal Planet program 'Growing Up Clouded Leopard', and who live on Bamboo Trail.

For anyone interested in cloudies, this is the zoo to visit - I have been 3 times this year alone!
