Coati Added to Import List

I was a little confused by 'brown-nosed' coati, but what they really mean is ring-tailed coati. Does this mean that imports will definitely go ahead or will it be another species that sits on the back-burner? It would be good to have them back in Australia as they make wonderful display species, and are as common as meerkats over here (and you can keep them as pets if you so desired, though that would be madness).

This just says that if zoos want to import them, they are permitted under the EPBC Act (but they can't be imported as pets).

I assume the addition was made because someone wants to import them.

Plenty of mad people, both here and over your way.

Melbourne are very keen. They have an empty exhibit waiting for imports. I think NZA and Adelaide are on board too.

Yes I was aware of the three collections interested, but you know how collection plans have a habit of changing... Hopefully the imports will start to happen. I wonder if this is the start of a change of heart when it comes to South American species.

Oh and Hix I know how mad Australians are. I am one (just a resident over here).
