San Diego Zoo Safari Park construction at the zoo

I just went to the park this weekend and they were remodeling the entrance. They have a big map of the zoo grounds behind the counter and were dry walling the wall in-between the bathrooms. The ticket offices were being remodeled as well. Inside the zoo, they are making a fruit bat exhibit and they are expanding the first flamingo exhibit and putting something else behind the flamingos. A sign said that it would be open next month.

They have not yet starting construction on tiger trails, has anyone heard an official start date?

New signs are everywhere and a new map is suppose to be available on April 1st showing the new areas that the park is being grouped into.

April 1st for the new wayfinding system? April Fools Day... interesting.

According to their flickr account, they've installed the new map all over the park and have updated the signs. Here is a photo of the new zoo map: [ame="http://www.flickr.com/photos/sdzooglobal/5578010300/"]New Park Map! | Flickr - Photo Sharing![/ame]

I like this map because there names are themed around the major animals instead of random names like the san diego zoo.

Yes, they did a much better job than the San Diego Zoo did. I like these names. The names in the San Diego Zoo don't give you an idea of what you expect to see. For example, Urban Jungle does not say rhinos and giraffes to me, it says tee-shirts with ironic slogans and posters of Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson.

Does anyone know what construction is happening at lion camp and when is it due to be finished?
I have visited San Diego twice before but never made it to the Safari Park and on this trip I am going to the Safari Park on the 7th of June and it looks like the one exhibit I really want to see is going to be closed.
