Hello

Long time lurker first time poster. My goal is to see all the Rhinoceros in zoo's. So far I've been to a few 15ish and have been working on a web site and Google Earth File. I've attached a picture of my Google Earth KML file. Please take a look and let me know what you think.

Thanks

Wow, very impressive!

Are you focusing on US zoos only or are you planning to include European and other zoos as well?

Hello rhinowatcher and welcome to the site, you are amongst fellow rhino lovers here, me for one!

If you love rhinos, or even zoos for that matter, you are living in the wrong city and state! I mean Las Vegas is perhaps the only MAJOR city in the USA that does not have a major zoo (and Nevada may be the only state without a major zoo).

Although I am obviously biased, I do believe that the rhino exhibit at Reid Park Zoo (where I volunteer) is one of the best in the country - and I have been to a lot of zoos. Our elderly female is quite friendly and if you do come down while she is still alive I can probably arrange for you to meet her and touch her.

Unfortunately, the lone rhino (a male southern white) at Out Of Africa (also in Arizona) just died. They also had one of the best rhino exhibits - you can see the photo gallery under Out Of Africa (inside the USA gallery) for an idea.

I would love to do all the zoo's in the world with Rhino's. Any guess how many hours I have in doing just North America? About 16 hours!!!! I looked up each zoo's web page and used their map to place the symbol on the exact location of the Rhino enclosure. I tried tracking down the animals names but had limited luck. I'll post a picture or two of the rest of my webpage plan. I'm collecting pressed pennies of Rhinoceros and Mold-A-Rama's.

Thanks

Your preaching to the choir. Luckily I travel a lot and have been hitting as many zoo's as I can. I agree the Tuscon has a wonderful Rhinoceros enclosure. One of the few I've been to that as another species in the same enclosure with the rhino's Sorry to hear about the Rhino at Out Of Africa it was on my short list to see this summer. Any idea how long was the rhino at Out of Africa? I plan on heading to the wildlife world zoo in Phoenix this summer. Thank you for the offer to visit Reid Park Zoo I just might take you up on the offer pick the date :)
