In July 2009, a pair of Giant Anteaters from Pomerode Zooin Brasil, arrived at the DWA. Does anybody know, if they are now on display in the Rainforest and in which exhibit they live ?

Yes they are one display. I've got a few photos of them. They are in Howler Junction.

Thank you. In Howler Junction ? I think, this is very small for them. So they are live together with the red howlers and some birds ? It would be very nice of you, if you could post these pictures you 've got...Since when they are on display, and do you got a guidebook of DWA since you have seen the anteaters on display ?, if yes , whats on the cover ? You know, I collect the guidebooks of DWa, thats why I've asked.

The guidebook hasn't changed yet. The howlers weren't out when I went last week. There are also tamarins in there. I don't know exactly when they went out. I'll get those pics up soon.

There are still a lot of birds there including toucans and boat-billed herons.

Yes that's right now that I think about it. This area used to have a Pudu in it too, but sadly it died a few years ago.

I went in March last year and the water opossum was there and having fun swimming in the round aquarium-like habitat and then scurrying into its den, it did this several times. I love seeing animals I've never seen before and this one made an impression!

When I was there a week or so ago, it was nowhere in sight. All of the info on the display screens had been removed about it so I don't think it is in the collection any more. Might be off display, though, who knows.

Pomerode Zoo also sent 32 birds for DWA in exchange of 1.2 Giraffes that arrived directly from South Africa. The value of this transaction was estimated in 63.000 USD.

The birds are:

4 pairs Ramphastos dicolorus
4 pairs Ramphastos vitellinus
4 pairs Baillonius bailloni
2 pairs Selenidera maculirostris
2 pairs Procnias nudicollis
