The Dallas Zoo will be celebrating its 125th birthday on Saturday, April 6th and Sunday, April 7th. Activities will last from 12pm - 5pm. Below is a list of the activities so you can plan your day if you are visiting.
- Superheroes (Sunday only)
-David Hira 9wandering magician) (both days)
-Two stilt walkers (1-4pm both days)
-Signage throughout featuring "Then" and "Now" photos of Zoo with program/schedule notes
Main Entry Plaza
-Dallas Heritage Village at Old City Park (with table top display-history of the Dallas Zoo at Old City Park and period costumed volunteers) (both days)
-Buttermilk Junction )(Heritage Village period costumed band) (Saturday only)
-Dallas Old-Time Music Jam (Heritage Village band) (Sunday only)
Breezeway
-Clint Skinner talking about his book "History of the Dallas Zoo : 1888-1940" (both days)
Cat Green
-Stonewall Jackson Elementary School to sing/sign "Happy Birthday" - kick off event (Saturday only) 12:00 Noon
-DJ withhold-fashioned games (both days) - egg drop, hula hoop, limbo, tic tac toe, hop scotch, sack race, relay races
-Birthday Ceremony (Saturday only, 12:40pm) - Ceremonial remarks by Mayor Mike Rawlins, Michael Meadows, Gregg Hudson, John Levy + Cake cutting and 1,000 mini cupcakes
-1,000 mini cupcakes (Sunday only)
Picnic Ridge
-Sara Hale Payne, author of "Old Mr. Murphy Had A Zoo" (book signing and storyteller - 4reads a day both days)
-Dallas Banjo Band (1-4pm both days)
-Safari Express
Children's Zoo
-Children's Disco (both days) - featuring mirrored disco balls, beaded curtains, mustaches, rose colored glasses, plus the Junior Zookeepers and conservation guides doing a "Staying Alive" dance on the hour
Special Animal Birthday Treats
Tigers - 1:45pm
Black-handed Spider Monkey - 2:15pm
Alligators - 1:15pm

-Wild Encounters Stage
-Temporary tattoos (featuring 125th logo)
Savanna
-Tony Browne and his African Drummers and Dancers (interactive learning-drum lessons & kid's games)
Special Animal Birthday Treats
Mandrills - 1:30-1:45
Cheetahs - 2:00pm
Elephants - 4:00pm
-Their photo vender will take period pictures
-They will sell hot dogs, funnel cakes, pushups, and cotton candy as old-fashioned style treats
