While the initial post didn't say it, Dallas is getting a new male "Reticulated" Giraffe named Obi from the El Paso Zoo. The zoo made a separate comment that stated Dallas was the zoo receiving him.

Saba, the zoo's elderly Klipspringer has been humanely euthanized following worsening age related issues. At 25yrs old, Saba was the oldest Klipspringer in the AZA.

Does anyone know the maximum amount of elephants the barn can hold and if it's bull proof?
Not sure about the maximum number they can hold but Dallas do have a mature bull so yes, I would say their facilities are 'bull proof' so to speak.

I visited just last week and a few staff members said that it originally wasn't bc they housed 6 older cows when it opened. But the Swazis came 5 years later and I'm more or less sure they reinforced the fencing to withstand bulls as Tendaji arrived and grew. They also said the barn has about 6 large stalls (I believe some of them can hold 2 adult elephants). So a safe guess would be 10 or 12 adults plus offspring. I am also excited that they plan on adding an "elephant great room" in the next year or so, tho the habitat does not need serious upgrades in my opinion.
