Hey everyone i was wondering if anyone knows anything on the lions at Dartmoor.
I know Zimba and Floyd the two original males where found in a car-brakers yard in cornwall.Could anyone tell me what happened to these two lions?
Am i right in thinking that two lionesses Peggy and Emma came from Dudley to Dartmoor?
And also where did Soloman come from and when did he come to the park?
As i visited the park in 2007 and thought it was brilliant! The 3 lions they had where Emma,Soloman and Josie although Emma was suffering from health problems is she still alive?
Thankyou for your time and i would love to find out about these lions as lions are indeed a huge passion of mine :)
Regards

I think there was a big thing on here as to where Emma went, as it's only Solomon and Josie left at the park now. It says on the signs that Solomon came from Heythrop and Josie was born at Darmoor.

Thanks for that Ashley H i knew Josie was born at Dartmoor,:) and i can just remember about Soloman thanks anyways!
Shame about Emma she wasnt in the best state when i saw her so she probably died or got put down :( Oh well.......for the best

Yep, Solomon is from Heythrop zoo, I think he was brought over at 3 years old. As for Josie's ancestors, I believe one died of a throat cancer but don't quote me on it, it's been a while since I double-checked! :p I have been at the zoo since a few months after it re-opened and the lions are my specialty so if you want a progress report on either Solomon or Josie, I'm happy to help! ^^

Solomon is Josie's father. As such he has had the snip. Josie's mother - Emma - died of cancer.

zimba and floyd were great boys, sadly floyd got spinal cancer and had to be put down, so the two girls peggy and emma were brought in to keep zimba company. it didnt work, zimba pined for his brother, wouldnt play and fimally stopped eating, he was sadly put down six months after his brother. Peggy is josies mother not emma has has been said, she was part of a litter of three, josie being the smallest, the two bigger ones got wobblers syndrome, and had to be put down. she was called josie, as she was nosey and dosey, and it rhymed!

Solomon was put to sleep in mid January 2013 due to kidney failure at nearly 18yrs old according to the zoos news page.

As far as I know I saw a message somewhere on here that they were looking for a new home for josie.
