Dartmoor Zoo Dartmoor Zoo News 2021

More developments happening. One of the old owl aviaries has been demolished and a new enclosure has started to be built. The area has been marked out and the new enclosure looks as though it will be extended towards the path and there will be an extension to the left of this area too.

@Rupert89 do you think that Squirrel Monkeys,Specticled Bears,Bintarong,Red Panda,Camels and Amur Leopards would be great additions to Dartmoor Zoo. I must add that Dartmoor is my Favourite Zoo. Due to this I am delighted by the refurbishment works the place is undergoing. In the future once the African Lions and Amur Tigers pass away I think Dartmoor should get a Breeding pair of Asiatic Lions Sumatran Tigers respectively. Rupert my final question is has the former home of Evil Enzo the Coati been redeveloped. His enclosure was adjacent to the Jaguar enclosure. The last time I visited the Zoo in 2019, Enzo’s enclosure was gone. Despite this the hardstanding was there and overgrown. Personally I think this area could comfortably house a couple of Bintarong or Pallis Cats.

Well I know they want to have bears back but unsure where they could put them right now. Amur leopards have been a big rumour for many years so I assume that is still on the cards.

No there is no enclosure by the Jaguar, there has been an extension of the path to allow for a one way system for covid but once that's over maybe it could be redeveloped?

A Long-nosed Potoroo has been born at Dartmoor. The pair's first joey has since been moved to Manchester to form a new pair. From their social media:

"We're so happy to announce that Sydney and Adelaide have welcomed their second adorable little joey! The first joey recently moved to Manchester Zoo to form a new breeding pair as part of the European Endangered Species Programmes (EEP) for the species. The youngster is very confident and takes after Dad Sydney by getting under people's feet! We're still waiting to find out the sex of the baby but stay tuned for your chance to choose a name."

My favourite Zoo is rapidly growing!! I love all of the refurbishment work that Benjamin Mee has invested in over the last decade and a half.
