Chester Zoo Departures

Chester Zoo's facebook page is reporting the following:

"In late spring Batchii will move to Madrid, making way for a new Greater One-horned female rhino Tanaya to come to us from San Diego. A new male Baabu will be joining us from Edinburgh Zoo. This is an important step forward for us as, with these new blood lines, we will have the one of the most important breeding pair in Europe."

Aren't Madrid going out of them? I thought Batschii was planned to go to WMSP?

Just back from the zoo. Iblis, the new male lion arrived while we were there, at about 12.30. Apparently they brought him over on the ferry last night. The keeper from Belgium pronounced his name 2 different ways - 'Eye-blis' and 'I-blis'.
Didn't get to see him, as they'd covered the ends of the crate with sacking, but heard him roaring and saw the crate shaking - he sounds very lively! Asha was peering throught the lions 'bedroom' window watching proceedings.
They had some difficulty closing the huge gate into the paddock that the crate had been taken through (by tractor forklift), and, in fact, were still working on this when we passed about an hour later, so both lions were still insidethe house. We were told that they intend introducing him to Asha pretty quickly - though I'm not sure exactly how long that means :confused:

Yes, eventually.

Some sort of twinning with Blackpool Zoo through the parent company. The enclosure has been modified to accomodate the female though.
