Finally one of the biggest eye-sores of the Dutch Zoo world is going where it belongs, in history.

Anything would have been a major improvement, but it looks decent enough. Well done Amersfoort

I don't know if they belong to rare breeds.

Chimpala, the new Chimpanzee enclosure, has now officially opened in Amersfoort!

Amersfoort has released a video showcasing the new valley, but unfortunately it doesn't show much of the exhibit; mainly just Children's climbing/play structures, parts of the indoor habitat, and some of the educational displays around it.

4-year-old elephant Yindi has died today. In the afternoon, she got stuck with her hind leg between a wall of tree trunks while playing. The only way to free her safely was to temporarily put her under sedation. Unfortunately, she did not wake up from this.
