Hello!

I was just employed at my local zoo about 2 weeks ago. I am taking a particular liking to the lemur section of my routine and would like to know what the difference is between the male and female red ruffed lemurs so that way I can tell the 2 females apart from the 1 male that I do not know yet. I know of one male and one female that I can identify due to color and physique. Any tips would be appreciated :) thanks!

I’ve worked with red-ruffed lemurs and they aren’t really sexually dimorphic apart from the genitals, which can be dificult to see under the fur. Your best bet would be to find ways to distinguish each individual, such as the darkness of the fur, or any white patches on the wrists an ankles, or the width of the white ring at the base of the tail.

You're totally right about them not being sexually dimorphic lol. I finally was able to tell them apart from their eyes. Guess thats the easiest way for me
